Survivor Chronicles Theories

In the coming weeks the big reveal for what started the events of The Survivor Chronicles is coming! I'm curious to know though what your theories are for it? I know I've thrown a lot at you but is there one thing/multiple things that brought you to your conclusion? I will not confirm or deny anything. :)

    A rupture in the tectonic plates caused the earthquakes and the lava came out through the openings. The heat caused glacier ice to melt, releasing a virus that has been frozen inside for thousands of years.
